On February 7th, 2015, beautiful Margo was surrendered to LHS because of financial reasons. It was obvious she had known love and leadership as she impressed us with her skills.
Her arsenal of tricks includes the basics: sit, lay down, and shake, but she also knows how to knock on the door when it's time to go outside and she goes to bed when she's told. We fell in love with her instantly. We had no idea what the next morning would bring.
The following morning, a shelter attendant was shocked to see Margo's kennel covered in blood. It didn't take long to figure out the source of the blood. Margo was urinating blood.. and lots of it. She was taken to Adrian Animal Clinic and we were informed that this gorgeous dog had an extreme bladder infection. A culture was taken to determine treatment options. We promised Margo she would feel better soon.
Checking through Margo's previous veterinarian records showed that this incident was not a new occurrence. She had suffered from a urinary tract infection when she was younger and we had no idea how long her current bladder infection had been present.
When her culture came back, Margo was placed on a three-week round of antibiotics. Once this round is finished, the veterinarian will re-check her urine sample to make sure she's completely free of her bladder infection. Once she is completely cleared, this amazing pooch will be ready to go to her forever home! We're hoping she will not be affected by these issues any more in the future.
Through her entire stay at LHS, Margo has been one of the sweetest dogs here at the shelter. She loves performing her tricks, smiling at you and rolling over for belly rubs. She needs a bit more work on her recall (so a leash is necessary) and she tends to chase kitties instead of cuddling them. However, she's amazing around young kids because she minds her manners and she's usually a nice team player when she's around other dogs!
If you're interested in making Margo a part of your family, please submit an adoption application here. If you're not able to adopt but still want to help, please consider making a donation to help with her medical bills. Thank you for your continued love and support!
