Have a knack for planning, organizing, and networking?
Join our Fundraising Committee and raise money for homeless pets by helping plan signature fundraisers and annual events with guidance from our experienced team.

Skills, Attributes and Pre-Requisites:

  • Commitment to the vision, mission, and goals of LHS
  • Understanding of LHS as a charitable organization
  • Understanding of LHS’s organizational flow chart and levels of leadership
  • Sincere interest and related experience with fundraising activity
  • Time and energy to contribute as a volunteer to the Committee and related tasks, events and activities
  • An ability to confidently solicit goods and/or monetary donations on behalf of LHS
  • Must be comfortable interacting with the public
  • Willingness to work as a team towards a common goal
  • Advanced project management skills

  • An understanding of the sensitive nature of our work and ability to maintain confidentiality of information received

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide creative and respectful input to deliberations of the Committee
  • Be continually aware of actions which could impact the reputation of the organization or the outcomes of the Committee’s work
  • Engage in all aspects of the fundraising plan, including marketing, personal solicitation and execution of events
  • Capability to assist with planning and executing of LHS fundraising opportunities including but not limited to assisting with raffle ticket sales, securing donation items for auctions, soliciting event sponsorships, running key components of fundraisers with guidance from the Fundraising Coordinator and Executive Director, assisting with direct mail appeals, covering community engagement booths and more
  • Help to identify new prospects and potential funders
  • Report activities and communicate to the Fundraising Coordinator. Follow all reporting requirements as related to each event

Time Commitment:

  • Attend monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at 3:00pm. Times and dates subject to change.
  • From time to time, sub-committees will convene for planning meetings
  • Members may also be asked to assist with special shelter and outreach events
  • Allocation of time to meet with and solicit potential event sponsors and auction item donors
  • A basic commitment of 5-15 hours per month should be expected including: work from home, attendance of meetings, selling raffle tickets, promoting events, soliciting for events and time contributed as a volunteer executing events and activities
  • Your availability to volunteer to work at a minimum of one of our signature fundraisers will be expected
  • Participation in our private Facebook group is appreciated but not required

Prefer to share your knowledge through education instead of soliciting donations?
The Outreach Committee is perfect for retired teachers, humane educators, and anyone else passionate about advocating for animal welfare. Through community outreach and volunteer outreach, you’ll help develop and participate in workshops, activities, summer camps, and other humane education programs as they relate to animal welfare and our strategic plan.

  • Time and energy to contribute as a volunteer to the Committee and related tasks, events and activities

  • Willingness to adapt and accept change
  • An understanding of the sensitive nature of our work and ability to maintain confidentiality of information received

  • Capability to assist with planning and executing of LHS community events including, but not limited to: assisting with animal craft workshops, working LHS vendor booths, assisting and working with children summer camps, and assist with the curriculum for humane education programming
  • Help to identify new community opportunities and potential volunteers
  • Report activities and communicate to the Volunteer Outreach Coordinator. Follow all reporting requirements as related to each event

Time Commitment:

  • Attend monthly meetings on the second Thursday of every month at 5:30pm. Times and dates subject to change.
  • From time to time, sub-committees will convene for planning meetings
  • Members may also be asked to assist with special shelter and fundraising events
  • Allocation of time to attend community events, workshops and other educational programs.
  • A basic commitment of 5-15 hours per month should be expected including: work from home, attendance of meetings, promoting events, and attending events
  • Participation in our private Facebook group is appreciated but not required

Join our standing committee, made up of board members and community financial leaders, to help review and provide guidance for our financial matters. As part of this committee, you’ll help ensure internal controls, annual independent audits and financial oversight for our organization. This is a wonderful opportunity to work closely with fellow volunteers and exchange ideas.

  • Understanding of LHS as a charitable organization
  • Understanding of LHS’s organizational flow chart and levels of leadership
  • Background in financing, accounting, retail, investment management, insurance or business ownership
  • Ability to understand financial statements, experience in creating budgets, and knowledge of financial policies and procedures
  • Time and energy to contribute as a volunteer to the Committee and related tasks
  • Willingness to work as a team towards a common goal
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Willingness to adapt and accept change
  • An understanding of the sensitive nature of our work and ability to maintain confidentiality of information received
  • Commitment to take on an occasional finance related special project

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide creative and respectful input to deliberations of the Committee
  • Be continually aware of actions which could impact the reputation of the organization or the outcomes of the Committee’s work
  • Help to identify new community opportunities and potential volunteers
  • Report activities and communicate to the Finance Committee Chair/Board Treasurer. Follow all reporting requirements as related to each event
  • Provide direction for the entire Board for fiscal responsibility.
  • Regularly review the organization’s revenues and expenditures, balance sheet, investments and other matters related to its continued solvency.
  • Ensure that organizational funds are spent appropriately.
  • Ensure the preparation of an annual audit, tax form (990), and audited Financial Statements.
  • Approve the annual budget and submit it to the full Board for approval.
  • Oversee the maintenance of organizational-wide assets, including prudent management of organizational investments.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate risk management measures such as proper insurance coverage.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of every month at 5:30pm. Times and dates subject to change.
  • From time to time, sub-committees will convene for planning meetings
  • A basic commitment of 1-2 hours per month should be expected
  • Completing work assignment in a timely fashion is critical to keeping the committee’s deliverables on track and the work of the LHS moving forward. Meetings will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm. Meeting attendance is important, however, it is understood that due to conflicts meeting absences will occur.
