Last year at our 9th Annual Howl-O-Ween Ball, we asked our supporters for a miracle. You delivered.
At our 10th Annual Howl-O-Ween Ball this past Saturday, we were beyond excited to welcome the arrival of our VERY OWN veterinarian, Dr. Erin Whalin, DVM. With the arrival of Dr. Whalin comes our very own on-site clinic, aptly named the "Hope Clinic." We present to you this gorgeous plaque, featuring those founding donors from our event in 2013.
We are surrounded by amazing supporters, like Humane Ohio, who currently spays and neuters most of our pets. Local veterinarians, like Dr. Herr of Adrian Animal Clinic, welcome our special needs animals with open arms. However, we're growing so large that we're overwhelming our resources! We currently have thirty one dogs waiting to be spayed/neutered, and at least a quarter of those animals have adopters ready to take them home as soon as they are ready.
Imagine a shelter with no bottleneck. With animals who only stay at the shelter two weeks or less. Imagine the turnover rate and the increase in the number of lives we'll be able to save. That's a future we dreamed of, and a future that begins next month. Because of you.
But wait, there's more! We have not only been blessed with an on-site clinic, but we have also received a grant which will allow us to pilot a Trap-Neuter-Release program for feral and outside cats in a targeted area. Our focus begins in Adrian and our goal is to spay/neuter 200 feral/outside cats before February 1st, 2015. Dr. Erin will help us to complete this grant successfully so we can secure funding to develop an ongoing TNR program to relieve the stress of feral cats multiplying throughout Lenawee County.
Our staff and volunteers thank YOU from the bottom of our hearts. Without your dedication, perseverance and belief in us, none of these changes would be possible. We are determined to help change the world, one paw at a time. THANK YOU for helping us!!
