Found outside all alone, Slushy was slowly being crushed to death – by her own sternum. Our shelter veterinarian, Dr. Misty Sumner, knew time was of the essence. The more Slushy grew, the worse this dangerous birth defect would become. During Slushy’s critical surgery, Dr. Sumner crafted a body cast for the tiny kitten and carefully sutured her sternum to it. Now, as Slushy grows, her chest cavity will be able to grow correctly, no longer pressing in on her heart and lungs. Your support helps animals like Slushy have a future to look forward to. Thank you.
