Petunia has overcome a lot in the two short months she’s been alive. Born with a cleft lip and injured by her mother who refused to nurse her, Petunia first found herself homeless when she was only 11 days old.
Luckily, humans stepped in where her mother fell short and Petunia quickly blossomed under their care. When she was finally old enough for adoption, Petunia was transferred to our shelter to search for her forever family.
Our shelter veterinarian, Dr. Sumner, was able to examine Petunia more closely during her routine spay and realized the issue was worse than we originally thought. Although Petunia seems to function normally right now, as she grows the clefted piece will continue to separate, making room for debri and a lifetime of infections.
To prevent this, Petunia needs a reconstruction consult before potential reconstructive surgery to fix her adorable cleft lip.
We need your help though. Can you please consider a donation of any amount to show Petunia that although her journey isn’t over yet, we promise not to give up on her?
With your donation today, you can make sure Petunia and other special pets like her always get the fighting chance they all deserve. Thank you for everything you do.
