Flat George was excited for his first Lenawee County Fair this year! On our mission to visit the Lenawee Humane Society booth, which featured our Golf Cart Raffle, we introduced Flat George to some of our favorite parts of this annual event. From delicious fair food, to fun rides, and making friends with the two-legged AND four-legged variety, we think it's safe to say that Flat George had a blast!
We told Flat George it's impossible to visit the fair without splurging on corn dogs. Even though he's diabetic, he couldn't get enough of them!
Next, we showed him how fun the rides could be! Flat George tried out the Tilt-A-Whirl but after all those corn dogs, his tummy hurt pretty bad so he decided one ride was quite enough.
While we waited for our tummies to settle, Flat George asked if we could visit the livestock. Of course we said yes! On our way, we met a hungry calf. Although he looks like he's really good at taking selfies, we were told that he had just eaten his ribbon and Flat George was almost his next snack! So we moved on.
On our way to visit more livestock, we decided to take a quick group picture. From left to right: Jaime Camburn, Fund Development Coordinator; Sasha Wilkerson, Communications Manager; Flat George, Diabetic World Traveler; and Marcie Cornell, Executive Director.
We finally made it to the stables to visit McKenzie, one of our previous employees. Although McKenzie wasn't available, Flat George did get to meet her gorgeous horse, Deville. He and Flat George became fast friends.
After all of our fun adventures, we made our way to the Lenawee Humane Society booth in the Merchant's Building. Along the way, we met up with 13 ABC Action News. Although Flat George didn't get his own feature (yet!), he did make a new friend.
At last, we ended up in the Merchant's Building at the Lenawee Humane Society booth! LHS volunteers were busy answering questions about our organization, handing out information on our various programs, running our Howl-O-Ween Ball Spokespawson Contest, and raffling off tickets for our custom-built golf cart. Despite all this, they took a second to hang out with Flat George too. Ted Aranda, dog behaviorist and LHS volunteer, even took a second to pose with Flat George and his border collie, Leila, in the golf cart!
All in all, Flat George had a fantastic time experiencing his first Lenawee County Fair! Are you interested in taking him with you on your next adventure? Contact us for more information!
