On Valentine’s Day 2008, a lab like dog walked into a garage and had ten puppies. The owner of the garage brought the litter and the mother to the Lenawee Humane Society. In that litter was “the best dog ever”!

We have been getting pets from LHS for over fifty years, but this puppy was unusual. You named him Teddy and even though I had a Teddy as a kid and our first dog was Teddy, we kept it and added trois (three in French). He was not timid but very patient. He was a black fur ball and cuter than cute. The vet thought he would be from 35-50 pounds. We spent most of his life trying to keep him under 100. Every place took him there two comments repeatedly: “Boy that is a big dog” and “what a beautiful dog.” He was both!

We noticed something different with his back hips when he walked but it took four vets before one took an x-ray and found he had hip dysplasia. At Christmas time of last year, he started to go downhill and we tried to prepare ourselves. The month of June was extremely hard.We had to lift him off the floor and he fell often. His appetite never waned! Last Friday the time came and with the help of our truly kind vet, Dr. Herr, Teddy left us.

We just wanted to thank you for Teddy. We are quite sure there will never be another dog like him.

Thank you,
Terry & Terry Quigley
