Introducing a NEW adoption strategy, where shelter kennels mean nothing and the community means everything.
The Adoption Ambassador program is a spin-off of our Foster Program, launched with the help of a $2,500 grant from ASPCA.
Adoption Ambassadors take an animal home with them and make it their mission to help find that animal’s forever home through community events, social media, networking and more. In the meantime, your new furry roommate gets to work on his or her social skills and basic training with you.
For pets who are used to living in a home environment, this option reduces stress and makes it much easier for them to find their forever home! Not only is your chosen pet happy and healthy, but the shelter has more space available to help more furry friends who need us.
Adoption Ambassadors are provided with all basic essentials needed to care for their temporary dog or cat. Food, bowls, leash or carrier, and other items are provided so that all you have to focus on is finding your animal’s best match. This may be with a friend, neighbor, or stranger you’ve met out and about. We’ll teach you how to talk with prospective adopters, how to perform meet and greets with other animals, and more.
To make it even more fun, animals come home with “Adopt Me” vests or leashes and personal business cards to hand out to prospective adopters!
This program is all about saving more lives while getting creative and having fun! Use our hashtag, #AdoptLenawee, when featuring your prospect on social media. Take silly photos, videos, or show-case your project pup in the park or at other events. Learn about your animal – their likes, dislikes, preferences.. and find the family to match!
